The project consisted of developing the visual identity for PATIMENT E.P., the debut release of PATIMENT, a post-punk/post-rock band from Sabadell. The main objective was to translate the band’s raw and emotional sound into a graphic language that felt both expressive and restrained.
The design was built using photographs by Felip Borràs Simó (1902 - 1987), a well-known photographer from Igualada. Rather than using the images as complete compositions, I approached them as raw material. Through collage techniques, I isolated the elements that felt most meaningful and evocative, giving them a new presence within the layout.
By extracting these fragments and placing them against a clean, white background, the selected elements gain visual prominence and a sense of tension. This contrast between the delicacy of the neutral space and the intensity of the photographic details reinforces the atmosphere of the music, allowing the imagery to breathe while remaining emotionally charged.
The result is a graphic system that balances fragility and strength, aligning with the band’s sonic identity while establishing a distinctive visual character for their first release.
